i am not sure if there is a difference in sugar ants and those little black ants we get, but what we do is take used coffee grounds and spread a fine line all around our house. For some reason the ants will not cross it. I have to do it about once a week and it takes about 3-4 cups of used coffee grounds. It works for us.
I have also heard that you can draw a white chalk line in front of your doors and the ants won't cross it, but i have never met or talked to anyone who actually really tried it.
Hope this helps.

If you do not have small children or small pets...... mix equal parts of powered boric acid with peanut butter. The powdered boric acid can be obtained at most pharmacies. Make the mixture in a throw away cup, cut out one inch squares of thin card board and put a glob on each piece of card board. Slide the baited pieces of card board into as many concealed places as practical. The reason regular bug sprays do not work is that it only kills the few sugar ants that you can see. The boric acid and peanut butter bait is carried back to the nest. Richard in Spring, Texas

We have plenty of ants like you describe. We use a liquid product called Terro. It is pretty good in and around the kitchen. The we mix white sugar and Boraxo hand soap 50/50 and spread it in a thin line all the way around our house twice a year. The ants take it back to their colony, and they eat enough of the Boraxo to kill most of them off. this seems to be the most effective method we've found.

try this
3 1/2 ounces of strawberry jam
1 1/2 tablespoons of wet, canned catfood
1 tablespoon of boric acid
mix together in a small bowl and place in the area you see the ants (make sure children or pets CANNOT get at the mixture. they ants take this yummy "treat" to their queen and she will die within a few hours. with no queen the ants should leave.
hope this helps

Sugar ants like warm moist places. You have a moisture issue somewhere that they keep coming back. Usually an exterminator will be able to kill the nest. Fins out where the moisture is, cure that problem and kill the ants. Good luck.

Use orange peel, peppermint tea, lemon juice, ground cloves, etc. Try planting mint around the places where you find them...Vinegar has the same acid as citrus, so use it to clean with and ants won't feel welcome....also try powdered red chili pepper, paprika, dried peppermint or borax on ant trails...This amy help...also make sure that you put all the sweets, cookies etc. in airtight containers...clean up immediately after every meal...don't leave crums lying about...Hope this helps!!

I flooded their anthills. Felt really bad about it, but it worked...they maybe moved onto the next house? I also did baby powder and they crawled right through it!

you can buy some gels that you squirt around your house and they will drink it and die. Look around your walls and if you see a small hole the size of a ballpoint pen then squirt the stuff rite in the hole and they will surely get it.
