80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

A jar called earth or on a ball in a bottle in Unseen University on Discworld (if you're a Terry Pratchet fan).

There may be a pre-ordained reason for your life but you still have enough control over your choices to ensure that you lead good life that benefits others and causes as little harm as possible.

I think human beings are meant to go through life and get off this planet, causing as little trouble and harm in the process and maybe helping to improve someone or something along the way.

It is great that you are searching! That's part of the plan.
God created you to be loved by him.Similarly some people have a puppy because we want something to love and to love us in return no matter what . No matter that the pup chews up your favorite things or urinates on your carpet you still love him. God's creation (you ) are His delight and object of His unconditional love .What he hopes for and trains you for is to love Him,unconditionally, even though you do so many disappointing things. When your pup decides no matter how you chastise him he loves you anyway, the pup shows the devotion God desires from you. Giving that sort of love will please Him so much He will have you live with Him forever. That may seem too simple but He is not willing that anyone should not have that opportunity consequently He wants it simple to understand.

It is really great that one is trying the purpose of Human beings.
Yes we,every animate and inanimate thing on this globe and in the universe have a definite purpse.
One has to find out who he really is? Elders say that everyne is GOD.To realise this one has to make introspection. For this he ned not become a monk or a saint or a sanyasin and renounce
the family or his attachments hee.He has to perform the allotted or assignd duties or responsibilities without any attachment. He shall LOVE all without expecting any thing in return.Man or woman both or the replicas of God Himself.God is embodiment of ll good qualities and HE loves all irrespective of their status caste creed etc, like sun shines equally on all places without discrimination. If we put un umbrella and prevent the sunlight fro falling on us , and then blame there is no sun light whose fault it is?HE gives equally eVERYTHing to Eveybody. It is for one to receive it fully without covering ourselves with ignorance.Just do your duty.Love all without expecting anything at all.OUR PURPOSE is to spread UNCODITIONAL LOVE TOWARDS ALL SURROUNDING US.

Thanks

Without question we all have a purpose. From a general perspective, we were all created for the glory of God and to praise Him. He also created us to enjoy life. Christ himself said "I have come so that you might have life and have it to the full". Obviously, God intends for us to enjoy life within the bounds that He has created for us (bounds intended for our protection), but He does want us to enjoy life nonetheless. Even more specifically, we have all been created with the intention to and the potential to do great and wonderful things. Jeremiah 29: 10-12 says "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." We are here to love one another (that sounds a little new-agey, but it really isn't),to help each other find our way to Christ, to Love our God, and to Love life while we wait for His return.

Let me know if you have interest in knowing more.

Everyone and everything in this world do have a purpose. Except humans every other things does it right, but are we doing it or at least do we know what is our purpose?......this still remains a question in many people. so one should try to investigate his/her purpose on this beautiful place and start working on it......each one can have different one.....but one can be common for all "love each other as we love ourselves"

Thanks

"If this cosmos 'is an accident of electrons and protons going it blind,' then there is no ultimate meaning. But if God is real, if his purpose runs through all creation, if we are spirit, the children of eternal Spirit, and so can be fellow workers with God for an end unseen and unimaginable, but worth everything that its achievement costs, then this universe and our lives within it are packed with meaning."
