I've built a new PC. When I press Del to enter setup, it displays the memory, then says USB controller detected but goes no further. The system hangs after POST. The hard drive is from a working PC with windows. The reset & on/ff buttons work, the CPU is correctly detected. I have an Asus k8v-vm m/b. The graphics are on-board. All fans are ok. Is it because I'm using a ps/2 102key keyboard from an old 486 PC(pre-Windows 95)?

I'd think the keyboard you have is sufficient, as long as it is PS2, if your worried about it, borrow one from someone you know. I'm thinking that you have some of the connectors from the switches etc. to the motherboard in the wrong place, I always use a magnifying glass to make sure everything is as it says in the specs and install guide, try it and see if theres not a wire or 2 out of place...
