It was just too easy to claim that the war in the middle East is about oil. There is a lot of oil over there and most people's knowledge of the middle east is based on the fact that allot of our oil is from there. Even the "Operation Iraqi Liberation" spelled out the word OIL.
However, we did not take over their oil fields, we gave them back to the Iraqi's. If Oil was worth killing for, it would be worth drilling in ANWAR, or off the in the Gulf Coast.
The real problem is a cult based on a peaceful religion that encourages suicidal behavior and prosecution of non-believers.
When the Taliban was running Afghanistan and Saddam was running Iraq, there were leader in power who had openly encouraged the death of Americans. We can't have that. "Death to the USA" are fighting words.
After 9-11 we started taking those threats a bit more seriously, because we had another, bigger example that these people might be serious when they call us the "Great Satan" and encourage their youths to sacrifice themselves and innocent by-standers for a perversity wrapped in a religion
Let me make this clear, Islam is not necessarily an evil religion, in fact, there are many wonderful enlightened people who practice Islam, however the cult of death that has evolved out of the religion of Muhammad is a disgrace and is as close to evil as I have seen in my life time.
The US was a sleeping giant, some one woke us up and Uncle Sammy was cranky. Osama punched us and Saddam had it coming to him

If the terrorist would not have started blowing things up and there was no 9/11 I don't think the United States would have gone to war. If other Countries would just live in peace we would not be having this conversation. When all those innocent people lost their lives on 9/11 I don't think it had anything to do with oil. The terrorist think they were justified to do this horrible thing and that's the farthest thing away from the truth. God is a God of love and every religion knows that. Oil is a weak excuse.

None of the above. If we wanted Iraq's oil we could have made a deal with Saddam Hussein to get it. Moreover, only 6% of US oil comes from Iraq so what does that tell you.
Terrorism: Not if you're referring to 9/11. The 9/11 commission couldn't establish a credible link between Iraq and 9/11. Islam? I don't think so, but if you have empirical evidence to suggest otherwise I'm all ears.
The real reason is probably more complex, but don't believe the mainstream media. Use you own judgement.

you have an interesting question and the answer lies hidden in your comments. number one " people do not think any more about the war, we are all emotional nowadays about the whys, etc. plus the fact that logic does not give an answer to many questions. so, I am not thinking and reflecting on the many whys -- because the administration that is fighting the war -- keeps a lot of the unknown still unknown. thus the war will go until a change of administration..hope it helps.

I say its about islam, there is no danger of terrorism from Venezula and we can't get away with doing anything stupid directly militarily there anymore. Yeah, I'm aware I used islam and terrorism in the same sentence but I actually think that many of our problems stem from Arab countries and Iran's unacceptance of Israel.
