People are naive to think they are invincible.
lol @ those answers above. People on secured networks get nailed all the time too. Afterall, why would they constantly have to update securities if they weren't being hacked into in the first place? so no, the secured only makes it more difficult in some cases.
Accessing your files:
if they log in under your name on your computer its self, yes.
wireless setup, yes.
hackers....ohh yes.
Are you on any type of network? Yes, especially unsecured networks. (just easier)
Wired, lol yes.
If you are on the net in any way shape or form, yes.
are you talking about network or personally.... Both, yes.
I worked on a puter for someone last night. i went into it forcefully, because their user files were all blocked, but I needed to get in there, per their request, and get some files.
Needless to say I got in, got the files, and copied everything i wanted after i changed some things, and made their account totally unusable. Then i reformatted it for them. I did have to crack into it for them. Was it easy, for me? yes, but I have 20 years experience with computers.
I can get in it no problem, no matter the situation.
likely to happen? who knows. Made anyone mad lately?

Most likely, no. However, if you have file sharing on *and* you're on an unsecure wireless network (WEP encryption is not secure, WPA is secure, and no encryption at all is obviously not secure), people will pretty much be able to access the files you have shared.
(Oh, and the above is meaningless if you don't use your wireless connection. If you disable it, nobody will be able to get to your files that way. However, the next paragraph still applies:)
Also, if malware (malicious software, often called a computer virus, though technically a "virus" is any program that replicates) gets onto your computer, it might send copies of your files to other computers, but this is possible even if your computer isn't wireless. Practice good Internet security practice, though, and you should be fine. The basics of Internet security: "run a virus scanner often, keep a firewall running at all times, update both often, and be careful what you run".

Well, only if you allow them to!
By default, most wireless setups are fairly secure unless 'the spies' are using some unusual tools to check your transmissions. Also, unless you connect to a wireless access point of some description you should be OK.
If you do connect to an access point (router, other computer, etc) you should ensure that it's a secure, encrypted connection that you're using. By viewing the destination that you're connected to (via "View Wireless Networks") it should tell you whether it's secure or not).
Hope this helps.

I am using a wireless laptop right now can you view my files?
This cant be a serious question, but if it is here is an answer: people can connect to your wireless network if its not encrypted, if it is they cant, as for connecting to your laptop, i will ask you this and you figure it out, can you connect to your tv?

even if your wireless network is not protected (ie WEP passwords, or MAC address filtering) then people will most likely not be able to see your files unless you have enabled the entire contents of your computers C: drive for sharing.

Only if they somehow gain access to your computer. Passwords and encryption can add layers of security to your connection but if someone wants to hack your computer then they will eventually. Usually, cracking passwords will take a long time.

They can only view if there is no WEP protection on your internet connection. If you put a password, you are safe. otherwise you are putting laptop data to risk.

only if you dont have the wireless broadcast device's security features set up, and then it will block out intrusion attempts only if the security is WPA

If your link is encrypted you should be OK, to a point. The hardened hacker will get into a wifi link whatever.

If you have a password to your network you should be pretty safe, although someone could still hack in.
