I had such hopes when I voted for them in 1997.
but they have turned out as hopeless and as sleazy & corrupt as the Tories before them.

Things can only get better...

I my friend am a carbon copy of your good self. I had such HIGH hopes for the labour party, but after all these years of sleeze and lies and spin, I am totally disillusioned and ashamed that I voted them in the first time, the first, last and only time they have or will get my vote.

I can't say I'm disappointed because I have never supported Labour. However, I'm begining to have a kinder view of Old Labour who, whilst utterly incompetent, were at least sincere in their beliefs. I also do not accept that the last Tory governments was just as sleazy and corrupt. Most of us had never heard of those MPs who were accused of sexual misconduct or 'cash for questions'. At least Jonathan Aitken and Jeffrey Archer ended up in prison for their pains! Don't hold your breath for such punishments to be dished out to this lot.

There isn't a party any good. They all can't further than the end of their nose. There are obvious answers to a lot of problems but they don't see it Take prisons there like holiday camps. If inmates were made to do hard labour to pay for their crime allot of them would not offend again. why not make all the younger inmates do national service and send them abroad to get killed instead of all our loyal service men and women. Immigration. If this was regulated years ago then we wouldn't have all the problems we have now. but what does the government do make new laws to cover up their mistakes.I could write for ever on this subject Things will never get better until they look at things realistically

Yes it's so depressing. I ten in 1979 when Thatcher came to power and for the following eighteen years hoped and voted when I was able to, for a Labour government. I was possibly naive in hoping things would get better but I honestly think they've got worse.

But what's the alternative? I now vote LibDem but with a touch of cynicism I didn't have before - if Labour can change so much, then so can they. As Lord Acton (who?) said 'Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.'

Are you kidding!!!?? I was a miner in the 1980's.How dare you compare the labour party to the neo-facism of the conservatives who decimated this once proud industrial nation?
What alternatives do you propose ? A return to the two tier nation of the tories? High interest rates coupled with high unemployment?
I am now in a position where i have better wages than ever before with more employment protection than ever before with a mortgage that is less than ever it was under the tories oh yes and loads of jobs in this truly multi-cultural society. Labour sleazy as the tories? Check your history!!!

I have NEVER supported the Labour party..I'd sooner ram white-hot rivets in my eyes than vote for that scum. Listening to that song and seeing Blair grinning his way into No10 in 1997 was one of the worst days of my life. And shame on you for voting for his bunch ...ever. The Conservatives aint good, but they would never have allowed the creation of the cradle to grave Surveillance Society that New Labour have decided we must live under.
