They found my kids at 5.5 weeks on ultrasound...can't usually HEAR it until 10 weeks at the earliest....usually 12-14 weeks.
GREAT NEWS....once a good heartbeat has been found, the chances of miscarriage drop dramatically.....a little fast there.....according to the wivestale that means girl...but I have one of each and their heartrates were the same.

I won't say that you don't have a super baby, but they can see the heartbeat flicker on the ultrasound at about 7 weeks. I had my first u/s at 5 weeks and just saw a black spot. I had another one 2 weeks later (just last week) and saw the baby and the heartbeat. You can't hear the heartbeat until 12 weeks with a Doppler. Best wishes for a healthy pregnancy and baby.

We heard it first at 11 weeks on our second appointment.
Our first appointment was at 9 weeks and our OB/GYN didn't listen for a heartbeat. We had a sonogram however to see the page and definitely could see the heart fluttering away on the sonogram image.
I've read that it is generally up to the OB/GYN. Some OBs don't bother taking the time to listen for and find the heartbeat of really young babies as it is more difficult than simply waiting until a later date. However, the hearbeat is there from five weeks on after the blood of the baby is fully circulating inside its body.

I have twin 3 mth old daughters. An ultrasound detected both of their heartbeats at 6 wks. You probably do have a superbaby but it doesnt have anything to do with his or her heartbeat. Ultrasounds have come a long way. They have just gotten better. Also if your Dr did a vaginal ultrasound as opposed to one on your tummy then baby's heartbeat can be detected a lot earlier.

I heard my baby's heartbeat at 9 weeks...I'm not sure if I would've been able to hear it earlier or not. My first DR appt was at 9 weeks so I didn't get a chance to hear it before then.
I think it's pretty normal for you to hear the heartbeat at 8 weeks. I doubt it's because you're baby is farther along. They are pretty good about judging gestation age.
Good luck!

My first one was on December 5, 2006 and the heartbeat was 164 beats per minute. Yeah you do have a super strong baby and very healthy too.
Congrats on your pregnancy!!!!!!

A vaginal ultrasound is greater precise than the belly one through toddler's length. The vaginal ultrasound can detect clearer from the "interior". the 2nd wellbeing practitioner in all threat used the vaginal ultrasound for the reason which you informed her that the belly did not teach a heartbeat. do not difficulty, as your toddler grows, the middle will advance too, and you be able to pay attention and spot it with a belly ultrasound. Have a eye-catching being pregnant. Congratulations!

my aunt though however went in at 8 1/2 weeks and they did it vaginally too and didnt hear the heart beat and a week later she misscarried. I also hear its a good thing to hear the heart beat and the odds of you misscarrying drop alot!

Ultrasound should see a heartbeat by 6 weeks, sometimes a few days sooner.
Hand-held doppler (the small machine they use when they just listen to it) usually can pick it up at 10 weeks. It may be later, if the woman is heavy of if the uterus is retroverted (tipped back).

I heard my daughter's HB thru an ultrasound at 9 weeks and my son's at 8 weeks. But with a regular doppler it was about 12 weeks along or more before my OB would even try.
