I think we all wish that some actors who performed roles of gay men were gay as well, but reality is different. There are so many gay actors who perform straight men that we have to accept that performing a gay character is not meant to gay men only. Moreover, many straight men are as sensitive and sensual as gay men. I think that the real thing is the lack of roles of "ordinary" gay people in movies dealing with something else than homosexuality. I would really appreciate to watch a movie in which the main character is involved in any plot, and we would only see his boyfriend (or girlfriend) who has nothing to do with it. That would be nice and put an end to the traditional stereotype of pornography. Let me give you some re known gay actors such as Rupert Everett, Montgomery Cliff, Rock Hudson etc...

I think the distinction should be "which actors are openly gay?" Just a few come to mind: Ian McKellen, Rupert Everett, Nathan Lane, Leslie Jordan, Simon Callow, Stephen Fry, and Stephen Spinella come to mind.
