First thing in the morning 3-4 days after your first missed period will be when the chemical is the strongest. Some pregnancy tests claim to pick it up 3 days before your missed period, but often times they are only 40% accurate or so at that time.
Also, some women don't develop the chemical which triggers pregnancy tests to be positive, or they don't develop enough of it. If you take a test and are pretty sure you are pregnant, go to a clinic and ask for a blood test to be certain.

Go to the store and looking thru the pregnancy test. You can take some 5 days before your period. Most suggest waiting about 5 days after you missed your period

if you are on a regular cycle some can test up to five days before your missed period. I have found it best to test about two to three days before my missed period and the first bathroom break is the best. I would try to use tests that are a little bit pricier like ept or first response they tend to be more reliable. Hope this helps.
