I'm starting a blog and just wondering how the advertising works.... If someone wants to advertise on my blog, do I get paid? or does blogspot.com get paid?

In order to get paid from advertising in your blog, you must fulfill these requirements:
1. Obviously you must have a blog. It can be blogspot.com (it's free to have blog there).
2. Once you have your blog, you have to register to the advertisement network such as AdSense at http:///www.google.com/adsense (it's free to register).
3. After you register to AdSense, login to your account and get an advertisement code to be put in your blog. Copy this code and paste it into your blog.
4. Now you have advertisements in your blog. But you only get paid if people voluntarily click these advertisements. And you need a lot clicks to get paid handsomely.
5. So last requirements is getting a lot of people to your blog and hope that they voluntary click the advertisements there.

It's pretty simple once you get the gist of it (I didn't say easy; it's just simple to understand). There are three basic ways to monetize your blog - Affiliate Programs, Private Advertisers, Google Adsense. Affiliate Programs and Private Advertising have always made me more money than Adsense, but Adsense is a great program if you are in the right niche. Study successful bloggers paying attention to how they've set up their blogs. If you follow successful people you'll get quicker results. Then you just need the right tools to speed things up and get visitors to go to your website. Anyway good luck Emma. Just keep pushing forward and working hard. I'm sure it's just a matter of time before you start seeing some positive results.

Not yet...but then, I haven't done enough to push stuff toward my blog to take cross-benefits for even the tiniest earnings. You have to give a little to take a little.
