Yes a good way to take pre-natal vitamins if you feel that way is at bedtime. At night your body can relax, wait until dinner is digested and just go to sleep. Its easier on the stomach and you should be able to keep them down

Plus at first pre-natal pills are a little harsh. After awhile the body will get used to the extra surge of vitamins.

I was very nauseated in my first trimester and the nurse told me that I could take 2 childrens chewables vitamins and one Folic Acid a day instead of my prenatal vitamin. Before you do that though you should check with your OB/GYN, every woman is different and according to what the doctor knows about you, he/she may decide to keep you on the prenatal.
Ginger really helps with nausea, for example, gingerale, gingersnaps, or ginger tea. Or try eating some saltines first thing in the morning, before you even get out of bed. Good luck and God bless

Don't ever take them with citrus juice for some reason it makes the nausea worse, you may also try taking them in the eveing instead of in the morning. There are so many different kinds of prenatal vitamins out there. I tried like 3 different kinds before I found one that didn't want to make me throw up. Over the counter ones are exactly the same and they didn't make me sick, you may want to try those.

i had the same problem for about a month after i got them. try to eat a cracker and if you tried to eat a little something then try to take them on an empty stomach. if that makes you feel worse then i dont know. all i can say is it will go away and it is very important for you to take them. i guess its one of the bad things about being pregnant. but if like a month goes by and you are still throwing up when taking them id let your doctor know and maybe you can get a different pill. good luck. hope ya feel better.

are you eating when you take these pills or are you taking them after you ate? I used to get sick whenever I would take them on an empty stomach. I would have to take them while I ate.. not after b/c after I ate and took one I would get nauseated. It isn't good to stop taking them.. whether you eath healthy or not.. you need the extra folic acid they give you and all the vitamins. I would either try taking one while you are eating for a couple of days if that doesn't work then take one after you eat and then try taking them after you eat but wait an hour for digestion... hope this helps goodluck also taking extra B12 or B6 (can't remember which one it is.. ask a pharmiscist about it or your doc) vitamins help with nausea

Have you tried taking them with bland food in the morning and then sipping on some ginger-ale? I wouldn't lay back down, but maybe sit upright in bed and read the paper and nibble on crackers while you wait it out.

I hope you feel better . . . it's true that the things that are good for us can sometime hurt the most, huh?

I know the feeling! I just had a baby, and the first set of pre-natel vitamins they gave me made me sick also. They are not supposed to make you sick. You need to talk to your OBGYN and they should prescribe you something else. There are different kinds. A friend of mine went through 3 different kinds before she finally found some that didn't make her sick. Good luck!

first of all when you go back to the Dr. you should try to get a different kind.....I started off each morning with a little bit of gingerale and then about 20 minutes later I would take the vitamin and little bit more of gingerale...I would try to hold off eating for about 1 hour after taking the vitamin....

ugh! i know exactly how you feel. i dont know about yours but he gave me some over the counter until my next visit and they STUNK SO BAD and left a nasty a*s taste in my mouth and made me want to vomit everytime i took them. then one morning i woke up around 3am and had this horriable cramp.
i had diahrrea soooooo bad too ((sorry))
i called them the next day telling them how i felt and i stopped taking them for about a week and a half.
and my next visit i told my dr. what happened how they upset me and made me very sick, he prescribed me ones that smell/taste like vanilla which is 100% better. they still make my stomach turn but yeah, there isnt much they can do about that!!!
i hope you feel better!
and good luck.
how far are you!?

Talk to your doctor and tell them that they are making you really sick. I had the same problem when I was pregnant and they gave me chewable prenantal vitamins. They are much better. Granted they are a little chalky, and taste like flintstone vitamins. But you won't get sick taking them.
