Firstly ask yourself this question if you were a defenceless little child and some one was sexually molesting you, forcing you to watch ponography, touching you on your genitals, causing trauma to your body or threatening and cohercing you to perform sexual acts on them or physically abusing you and depriving you of your liberties becuase you are a defenceless child - would you want and wish that some one would intervene and help YOU?
If you suspect that your partner, brother or other relative/family member is committing a crime against a defenceless child you must found the courage to get this person some help. People who physically abuse or sexually abuse children are psychologically damaged and require urgent psychological treatment befor they hurt 100's of other young lives and possibly even kill a child.
There should be a child welfare service or child protection service in your area where you can make an anonnimous call ( meaning your identity wont be known). You can also contact the police and tell them what you suspect naming the child and you dont have to give your name.
But if you choose to do nothing then you are as good as committing the crime yourself.
Thousands of adults end up with their lives in shambles because as children they were sexually or physically abused. THis sexual abuse can lead to long term depression, suicidal behaviour and possibly these children can go on to become paedophiles themselves (sexually abuse other children)
You must find the courtage to contact the authorities because in your heart you know their is something wrong and you know that this person is committing a serious offence against a small child. And they are doing this and you have a moral duty to protect an innocent child. You must act.
also people who molest children can molest many children and this behaviour can lead to sadistic paedophillia meaning children can be killed because the perpertrator gets such a buzz from hurting a defenceless child.
www.mako.org.au/ this web site is the mako files it lists pedophiles and their crimes against children read it and you will get an idea of the seriousness of the offence.
Also 20 years ago an 8 year old boy was sexually molested and killed by this man. He was caught but it came out he killed 20 other children. This perpertrator eventually hung himself with a bed sheet in a psychiatric facility. But he told his psychologist that he knew family members knew what he was doing and he wished they had intervened before he killed 20 children and sexually molested 100s more.
Please find the courage to ntervene now and get this family member some help. They need professional help.
There is one thing you must understand adults have power, children have no power, they are reliant on adults to give them their day to day needs, food, shelter, clothing, security and emmotional needs such as love and care. If an adult molests and abuses a child that adult can do untold psychological damage to that child. So please act now.
And if I was a family member and found out my sister dobbed my sexually molesting brother to the authorities for molesting a child I would be shocked
but I would be shocked at my sexually molesting brother not at my sister who had the courage to make her decision in the first place. And I would want my brother to get much needed counselling and help for his problem before anymore children were hurt by this person and any more shame bought upon by the family.
Also I am assuming this person is a he because statistically the sexual abuse of children by females is very low but I could be wrong.
Also at the moment this child is alive - how would you feal if the child was killed by this person and you stood by and did nothing because you were scared family members might hate you for protecting a criminal??

Yeah, if you know someone relative or not that is committing a very serious crime, you need to report and stop it. You said you suspect, but if you think so, then you need to report what you think to the police. If your family hates you for it, you can be rest assured that the victim will be grateful. Whether the victim is a child or not makes no difference. Again, stopping a serious crime is more important than what your family thinks of you.
I don't care about the 10 points. I asked a question today so I feel that I must answer one. I hope this little bit helps.

Listen, you need to do whatever is going to stop it. Nobody needs to know that you are the one reporting it to the police. If it's for the protection and the safetly of a child than do it. Nobody should get away with hurting a child and by the way you say it, it can only mean that the child is getting molested or physically abused. Who cares if it's a family member, Even the murders or serial killers are someone's family member does it mean that they should be covered up by their family in order for them to continue killing??? No !! A crime is a crime and it should be punishable by the law. Now if the a young kid is doing something wrong then talk to him or her and make sure he gets punished or a least a little scare so he/she can learn never to do it again. Or if it is something mentally, make sure he/she gets professional help.
Good Luck, Doing the right thing means helping someone that can't help themselves.

There are a lot of crimes a family member could commit that I'd keep quiet about, but if it's something involving a child...I'm spilling my guts. If someone is doing something bad to a kid and you know about it and turn a blind eye, you are just as guilty.

Ted Kaczynski's brother didn't have a problem with it. Why? Because it was the ethical thing to do.
It doesn't matter whether it's your immediate family, or a pedopriest molesting kids, all criminal behaviour needs to be reported.
If you want to live in a civilized society, you have to make it one.
And that includes putting others ahead of yourself or your family if it comes to that.

If it involves a child, you should definitely report your loved one. I know that that is easier for somebody outside of the situation to say, but staying silent is like watching actually happen and doing nothing about it.
As for your family hating you, ask yourself if you would rather them hate you, or you hate yourself. If you stand back and do nothing, part of the blame in whatever happens will be on you.

I'm not a rat but something involving a child? Do you mean like molesting this child or something like that. If that was the case then I would definitely report them because its not fair for the child to get traumatized by this sick individual!

no it does not make you a criminal....but it will eat away at your soul especially if you know that it is wrong and you let it keep happening....you have the option of helping a helpless child or just ignoring a serious problem...not to mention if you know the parents and if they ever find out that you knew and did nothing about it......lets just say that if it were me and my kids then i would hunt you down and kill you.............

I would confront them and then turn them in, if necessary.
My family would not hate me for helping people. They would realize this family member needed help, even if it was the jail kind.
