I'll bet you have a honda accord or maybe a toyota, anyway it is the catalytic converter releasing carbon buildup not a problem just deal with the smell and enjoy your mileage

Probably one or more bad exhaust oxygen (or "O2") sensors. If they go bad then the computer will automatically make the run a little rich (too much fuel) which is what you're smelling. That sulfur smell is unburned gas caused by a rich condition. To know for sure you'll have to have the computer scanned for trouble codes.

Something is up with the Catalytic converter possibly something preventing free oxygen from entering the cat to allow for oxidation, possibly due to a too rich fuel mixture which could be due to a failing 02 sensor.

Most likely the cat has just gone bad.

I agree with previous answers.

1. O2 sensors
2. catalytic convertor

If the car is a 1996 or later and the engine check light is on, go to an auto parts store like Autozone and have them scan for the trouble code. They don't charge for this. It will tell you if it's the O2 sensors.

You have a leak in either the exhaust system or somewhere else.

Or you've just driven through a puddle of sulphur!

You might be using "too good gas"
Before tearing the whole car apart, switch to a lower grade gasoline. or check your car's octane rating. Using a Higher Octane than required gas, will leave unburned fuel, . The Catalytic converter will take care of it, but the foul smell will be there.

Depending on the model year (old I dont know, newer I can help) it probably has something to do with your colling and/or exhaust system. Also, your coils may be dying.

Cheep gas has a higher sulfur content than mainstream company's. This might be it. Are you buying gas from a guy with a bucket?

it`s likely your catolatic converter, either plugging up or burning out.. it`s located near the front of your exhaust system, sort of looks like a muffler ..
