Someone told me that I was leading them down a "dark path." My interpretation of a dark path is leading someone down the wrong road. But the person said that is not how they meant it. I want to know how others interpret "dark path".

My Boyfriendtold me that I was leading him down a "dark path." My interpretation of a dark path is leading someone down the wrong road. And I didn't understand what he meant by that because I don't tell him to do things that are detrimental to himself or others. But the he said that is not how he meant it. I want to know how others interpret "dark path".

my interpretation of that would be to influence someone into doing bad things and getting them into trouble with things they wouldn't normally do.

You dont say much about "Who was it" that said it. How those words are taken would depend on who it's coming from. Was it a boyfriend? Either way, leading someone down a dark path can either mean obsessive sex, or leading down the wrong road (fast life, drugs, irresponsibility, etc.).

It's definitely not a compliment. Maybe you need to investigate this a little more by asking this person what do they mean, and what it is that you are doing that is leading them down this path with you.

from what i understand your giving them false hope, leading them on causing them to walk down this "dark road" a road of depression, a road that at the end theres nothing there for them. and when this person realises thats theres nothing there its heartbreaking. My advice, if you care about this person dont give them false hope, it hurts.

he probably got his 'sayings' all wrong. tell him to explain properly what he meant and only use these 'sayings' when hes 100% of what they mean.
