I know Luke didn't turn to the dark side but with Anakin being the choosen one he had to kinda turn the dark side to bring balance to the force

Anakin, because he was born out of immaculate conception, his midi-chlorian count was off the charts, and he had way more training than Luke.

I think it was Luke Skywalker. To be called a true Jedi, you should trust the "force" and Anakin always had doubts about it. He thought his calibre was getting suppressed by being on the light side. So I would say Luke was a true Jedi and thus a better one.

I think Anakin, but my reason is completely different. See, if you look at it in a deeper perspective, the only reason Anakin succumbed to the Dark Side is because of Luke. 'How?', you might ask...Well here's how- when Darth Sidious was tempting Anakin, to join the Dark Side, with the abilities of those who understand the Dark Side of The Force, the one that really resonated in Anakin's mind was the ability to save someone (Padme) from death, as he knew that she was going to die in childbirth . Therefore, the only reason that Anakin even did switch to the Dark Side was because he wanted to save Padme from dying (while giving birth to LUKE and Leia) .

Anakin was a much more powerful Jedi, yes. Luke has to be saved at least once in each movie.

As far as Jedi's go Anakin was better. If you're talking about the people playing Anakin and Luke. Luke wins hands down. Neiter one of them could act but Mark hammell won out.

Luke was the better Jedi.

Let's compare the two:

Skill in flying:
Luke: 9
Anakin: 10

Skill with a sabor:
Luke: 5
Anakin: 10

Skill with the force:
Luke: 10
Anakin: 8

Influence over the Weak minded:
Luke: 8
Anakin: ?

Jedi Reflexes:
Luke: 5
Anakin: 8

Clairvoyance:
Luke: 8
Anakin: 9

Dedication to what is right:
Luke: 10
Anakin: 4

Ingenuity:
Luke: 3
Anakin: 10

Not keeping close connections:
Luke: 0
Anakin: 0

(We can't use influence over weak minded because we do not have Anakin's number to compare.)

Luke: 9+5+10+5+8+10+3+0= 50
Anakin: 10+10+8+8+9+4+10+0= 59

So with nine more points than his son, why don't I believe Anakin is the better Jedi? Here is why. I have always thought that Anakin was the better fighter if it came down to a one on one battle. Anakin is one of the fastest Jedi I have ever seen. The only people I believe he would lose to would be Obi-Wan (as we saw he did in Episode III. Just because Anakin survived the battle doesn't mean he WON the battle.) and Yoda. So he's definitely the better fighter. He's faster, he's sharper, and he has a lot more training of being a Jedi under his belt than Luke has. But I don't know that FIGHTING better makes Anakin a better Jedi. Being a Jedi is not just about how quickly you can beat someone's butt into the ground. There is a lot more to it than that.

One could make the argument that because Anakin betrayed the Jedi and totally left the teachings OBVIOUSLY he is a bad Jedi. But I get the feeling I'm being asked who was the better Jedi: Anakin BEFORE he left the Jedi and Luke AFTER he met Yoda. Because you can't really compare two Jedi if one of them isn't a Jedi at the time of comparision.

Anyway, there's one little thing that I haven't mentioned yet. The ability to learn. Being a Jedi is about many things, protecting the peace, being a skilled warrior, believing in what is right, but above all they learn. Yoda even teaches the Jedi not to jump to conclusions, not to assume things. There is a popular phrase in their world, "Only a Sith deals in absolutes." I believe this is because when you assume things, you can become clouded, you can see things incorrectly and thus make bad judgements. Or things could change from what you once thought them and you could make a bad call based on how things were. In any case leaning and keeping an open mind is an important part of the Jedi code, perhaps the most important of all. Anakin was always horrible at this.

Think back to movie II and III. Hell even in I! As a child slave Anakin just KNEW no one could kill a Jedi, and he KNEW that he'd one day come back and rescue his mother. As he got older it was easy to see how is arrogance was getting in the way of his training. He was so confident in his judgment that he even contradicted his Jedi Master right after his Master had made a statement of their actions. Obi-Wan assures Padme that their actions are only to protect her while Anakin promises they will find who tried to kill her. Throughout the second and third movie Anakin continues to "know everything" until at the end he is convinced that the Jedi are evil, Padme led Obi-Wan to him to kill him, the Dark Side is the only one to be able to save his wife, etc. But I am getting ahead of myself. Even though that point was after he was a Sith, Anakin always had that about him. He never listened, he never really grew in his abilities, he never let Obi-Wan disagree with him and teach him and it only got worse and worse.

Luke never had that problem. Sure he might have had disagreements with his Jedi Masters Obi-Wan and Yoda, but Luke never went to the extremes Anakin did, disobeying orders without telling anyone, secretly marrying a woman, etc. Luke was ALWAYS open to learn about what the Force was and what should be done with it. He was continually amazed at what Yoda could do and always tried his best to emulate him. (Instead of thinking he was better than Yoda.) Luke kept an open mind and never underestimated the capability of anyone, he was even able to believe that his father still had good within him after so many years of darkness. Just a side note, Luke was a better Jedi, AFTER being trained when he was an adult, which apparently it unheard of.)

In this, the score is:
Luke: 10
Anakin: 0

Making our final score...

Luke: 60
Anakin: 59

And Luke the better Jedi

Anakin Skywalker was a better character all the way around. Deep reasons led him to the darside, but he was a better Jedi.

Anakin definitely, he may of turned to the darkside and gone against all the jedi, but if he had stayed with the jedi, there would have been no story and NO Darth Vader....lol
