It is hard and you don't realize it until the baby is actually home. Take the help and be grateful. I thought I could do it alone as well. By the 4th day, I called my mom. She was such a big help. I think I may have gone insane without her! Newborns do sleep a lot, but usually when you're trying to sleep. They tend to get fussy at night and sometimes there is nothing you can do about it. Their feeding schedules are very demanding especially if you're breastfeeding. All of this gets better with time, but you'll appreciate having help early on .

You are right in the fact that newborns will spend most of the day sleeping, eating and filling their nappies, but they most likely want to be awake when you want to sleep, need feeding when you want to eat and cry when you have done everything you can to make them comfortable - take all the help you can get in the early days, even if your mom looks after the baby for a couple of hours if you want to take a nap - sorry to tell you but you are in for a huge shock this baby will change your life - mostly for the better but it NOT an easy job!!

trust me you will waqnt the help. Newborns are a lot of work. I have a 2 month old baby and she is a piece of work. I have my mom come over all the time to help out with her when I have other things I need to do or just need a break.

Yes - you absolutely need the help. After childbirth you are so tired and really can't handle everything on your own, plus it is great to have extra hands around. What if the baby cries all night and you don't know what to do - wouldn't it be nice for another woman to help out at that time. I think you should take her up on it - that is what moms are for.
