Try this site: http://www.videohelp.com/

I recommend using the KMPlayer, linked there.

Download Divx. It's free, comes with a codec, and a viewer. BR

DVD decoder is usually included with your purchase. Look for a disk that is either related to the brand of your DVD or your PC. Uually , you will find the DVD player on them too. If thats the case just install the dvd player which automatically installs the decoder.

If the above doesnt work for you (for many reasons not known), then please just download this greatest free player on earth
http://www.VideoLan.org

The player itself includes a DVD decryption module that works as good as any.

Didn't your laptop come with any recovery CDs? If so, try using them to see if any of them contain the DVD-playing programs.

I second VLC from videolan.org
A very good player, and plays a large variety of formats, including DVD.
