Do you have houseplants? If you do, they may be laying their eggs in the soil.

To remedy this, mix 1/2 tablespoon apple cider vinegar to 4 cups water and water your plants with this mixture. It may take about 3 weeks to disappear, but it works without putting dangerous pesticides in your home.

Scrub the place down. Take a day - put on your cleaning clothes and some good music, bite the bullet and clean the place so good it sparkles. Use bleach where possible. Clean under cabinets, in cabinets, and in corners where things that could harbor the bugs might grow. There might be a chemical solution to kill the bugs, but a clean house will keep them from having a place to start up again.

Could they be fruit flies?

You can leave an open glass of wine or beer and they will be attracted to it. Most of them will climb inside and die. Some might hang out on the rim and I find that squirting them with Windex kills them, but you have to get them before they fly away so you need to kind of sneak up on them.

I find it's best not to drink the wine or beer after the flies get in it.....
