Because record companies only see $$$. And anyone sporting good looks (subjectively speaking), youthfulness, and a willingness to do anything it takes to make a buck, the industry will gobble them up.
I avoid cookie cutter artists like Spears and etc. like the plague and look for artists with innovative music and lyrics. They may not be as popular, but they're artistic, creative, and make me think, which is what good art is all about.

They knew Britney would look good in a school uniform, and that it would generate controvesy, publicity, record sales, money.
Do few people like good music? I don't think that's true. I think a lot of people like "good" music (meaning not manafuctured - I take it that's what you mean?). But we are starved of anything genuinely creative at the moment. Blame the record companies!

I TOTALLY agree!!! Most music these days are just talentless garbage. I guess it's all about the body....heck, I should have done it then...I'd be a millionaire, even though I can only sing a little better than Britney...

"Good" is subjective. People drive Hundai's and I've never figured that one out either.

Because people like you will talk about her all day long. If we just ignored it it might go away. She has herpes...but she isn't herpes :)
