squeeze fresh lemon in a glass of water each day, make sure you drink plenty of water. I have also been told by an LPN that coral calcium is good for it.

Stones are formed for different reasons, and often the reason is dietary. The best way to prevent stones is to know why you get them, at least the best you can. A urolgist will order a '24hr urine test' for a patient to find out what the cause of stones are... and also when one passes a stone they are to save it for analysis as well. It is likely that your 'stoned' lol, relatives, have had these tests done. You could learn the cause of their stones, you may be able to adjust your diet accordingly as a preventative maintenance- (this makes sense to me, yet it is my own presumption due to working many years (20) in urology- I am not basing this on any medical fact, tho there may be studies out there to verify or debunk this little hypothesis of mine).
I have heard many a urologist say not to drink a brown cola drink. To explain this further, if you have ever had a coke in a glass for a day or so you will see the brown residual- well, this according to the docs I know can be a cause of stones growing in the kidneys- Most urologists drink clear soda's. They will suggest drinking cranberry juice to some, tho I have learned it is certainly not a cure all, but a good effort that may have some benefit for certain stone types.
Another cause of kidney stones is calcium. So if you are a big chees eater or ice cream lover... the calcium does build up.
A simple look at urine under the microscope will see 'crystals' that can tend to cluster together... and over time they will 'hibernate' so to speak in your kidneys.
Drinking liquids / water throughout the day to continually flush out the kidneys- this can cause some of the particles that build up stones to pass through the body, rather than sit in place like a magnet attracting more particles to it to grow larger and larger into a stone.
If one has stones the medical procedures today have become much less invasive. A stone within the kidney 25 years ago used to mean a major surgical incision through muscle tissue and then also cutting into the kidney. This was both painful and required a lengthy healing process. Today, stone procedures with modern medicine are relatively simple, rarely require an incision/cut, and the patient goes home a few hours after the outpatient procedure. The stones are virtually turned into a powder sandy grit that passes through the urinary tract with ease. So, stones today are still a painful condition, with the optimistic side being that they are readily treated with ease.

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.
They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!
This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.
It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.

Well, beer is NOT going to prevent kidney stones. Alcohol causes all kinds of problems with your renal system (kidneys and liver). So if you must drink it, please do so in moderation.
