With news that Hargreaves could cost 28 million if he's sold to Man u, and in the past Manu's buys Rio, Forlan, Ruud, Rooney , Veron and Carrick etc have cost Man u the best part of a 150 million, and as the academy dosen't seem to be producing the talent that it did in the nineties, my question is can Fergie really spot players who have talent and puchase them at a bargain price who then go on to be priceless? I can't think of any examples, he seems to be buying them after they're already established

Your exactly right there thats exactly what he does other examples including Cole andYorke!
He was lucky with scoles, beckham, giggs in that they were already there.
name me one other good efficient buy he has made compared to Arsene Wenger who buys players for peanuts and develops them into players worth up to 10 times their original cost eg Fabregas and Henry to name but a few.

Yes, he can spot talents.
Arguably two of the best left backs in the world are playing in Old Trafford (Evra and Heinze). Vidic is considered a bargain and is perhaps the best central defender in the EPL currently.
C Ronaldo is a bargain at 12.6 mil. His value is double now and will continue to rise.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a bargain too and he helped win Utd the treble. Eric Cantona is another bargain. Roy Keane another as well as the Peter Schmeichel.
And the list goes on.
Interesting you included Rooney in the above list. He is not labelled as the next English hope for nothing. It's funny people (and the FA) put their hope of winning the last World Cup on to the fragile shoulders of an injured Rooney. And Rooney is only 21!
One thing about players valuation -- the market seems to be operating in three categories:
1. The ultra-rich Chelski, where a selling team names the price for a player Roman is interested and has no problems of signing a blank cheque. LFC could be joining Chelski in this category.
2. The rich clubs -- the likes of Man Utd, Real Madrid, AC & Inter, where the selling team tries to milk them for more money by slapping an overvalued price tag to a player
3. The rest of world.
Of course, this is another discussion.

Whether they have established themselves or not, I think he's got a great eye. Looking at some of the guys he's brought up, and looking at those that he's purchased over the years, I can't say that Fergie doesn't have the ability to spot talent because Manchester United has been so successful.

relies upon on your definition, some gamers are quite born with organic means... Pele Stanley Matthews george superb etc etc. There are gamers in spite of the undeniable fact that who've made into into soccer while not having organic present. as an instance Gabriel Agbonlahor (aston villa striker) grew to become into only signed by using villa because of the fact of his working speed, it grew to become into quoted off steve stride (former villa soccer director) that his soccer skills 'have been tough'. He had the alternative between being an athlete or a footballer... and he's doing quite nicely for the villa... so i assume its a 50-50 ingredient quite. You needless to say have your different gamers who've never set the footballing international on fire, yet have continually given stable performances (Dion Dublin, Robbie Savage, Ian Harte etc)

one word one god
CRISTIANO RONALDO
A complete bargain a £12million. Easily worth 30/40million now.
Also Rossi, Foster, Dong.
Fergie is the master at spotting young talent and making it better.
He has done it many times and has the medal collection to prove it. Only ARSEn Wenger comes close but he still lags behind. He just signs anyone and now and then one comes good.

Ferguson is not the talent finder. He is extremely good at using whatever players he has to do what needs to be done. If you want a good talent finder just look at Arsene Wengar. Bought anelka for half a million sold him for 23 million.

After today's transfer news, apparently you could get 4.5 Ronaldos for one Hargreaves.
