New England states like New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts etc all have cities with names like in England cuz that's where our ancestors came from--we may be related!

Massachusetts has Middlesex County and then there is Dover, Delaware. You'll find more in the 13 colonies than elsewhere, but you will find them all across the country to some extent.

My Dad says, 'The early colonists from England landed on the eastern seaboard of the United States and called their hamlets after their original homes. It gave them comfort in a harsh environment. Remember how many expeditions failed due to poor harvests or the inability to acclimatise to the conditions. Without Native American help almost all would have persisted. And what thanks did they get? None, Slaughtered because they got in the way. Diseased by infected blankets. Starved because their age old food supply was massacred for no reason'.

If you want a list I think the US Govt. has a gazetteer to help you find them, or are you wondering why?

If so then: The Mayflower. The settlers weren't going there to be original, they just wanted a 'New England', hence the names.
