Marcheline Bertrand had a career of her own. You would have heard about her death regardless of who her daughter is. Sorry for your loss and sorry it hasn't taught you compassion for others.

I'm so sorry for yours and your family's loss. As well as Angelina's family for their loss.
Angelina's mother was a pretty famous actress when I was growing up in the 80's. So, I think it would have been big news even if Angelina wasn't her daughter.
All mothers are important. It's just because Angie and her mother are in the public eye. That's why it's so talked about in the news and magazines. Personally, I think the news and mags could ease up on this and give the family some privacy and peace. It's really nobodies business but theirs. I do understand your point. Her grief isn't anymore important than yours, or anyone who has to deal with the loss of a close family member.

She is a huge celebrity at this time. People are obsessed with her and its news in the entertainment industry. People like to hear things about stars. When other peoples mothers fathers or sisters or brothers dies its not big news nationally because people dont know us. Plain and simple as that.

I don't think you can blame Angelina Jolie for the media centering on the story of her mom's death. The media is a voracious machine, chewing up everything and everyone in its path, in order to fill space or air time. I'm sure she is going through a great deal of pain. I know, because I, too, lost my mother a year ago. We should honor all mothers, living or dead, who have contributed positively to their children's lives.

I am deeply sorry about your mom. It is never easy to loose a parent (i lost my dad at a very young age). We hear about Angelina's mom because she raised her two kids alone and people respect that, she was working as a actress in the 80's and brought up two kids. That can't be a easy job to do. She got cheated and dumped. I guess that good people are remembered and that's how we should see it. Now i totally hear you, the media temp to annoy the crap out of us with their repetitive stuff. That i must agree to.!!!!

Her mother's death is in the news b/c she was an actress in the 80's. So it is not like she is just another woman off the streets. Also I think her grief is different b/c her mother was all that she had b/c her dad left them for another woman.

they dont call it holly-weird for nothing. i understand how you feel though but for whatever reason, the public wants to know these things or it wouldnt be made into such a big deal. my theory is....yes we all have family members that have died just like people that go into rehab, get into car accidents, drink way too much while under age at a nightclub, starve themselves into anorexic bodies, have drug and alcohol abuse issues, sleep around with people they work with (even if its not on a major motion picture movie set worth millions of dollars), go out to eat at a restaraunt, pump our own gas (even if its not into a car that's worth more than our annual income, savings, and first born), travel to different countries (even if it is from that ONE summer vacation we saved up for years to afford, a foreign exchange program, or study abroad in college), wear designer clothes (or at least that ONE outfit we just had to max out our credit card for because so and so wore it in a magazine), and of course get married and divorced before the ink dries on the marraige license (only without the high power attorney and without having to say "irreconcilable differences" because again...nobody cares). so why do WE care...well who else is going to live out OUR life problems in the spotlight with enough money to make it all still look glamorous, or so horrible that it makes US say "MY life isnt so bad after all"
