This typically happens after the car is warmed up but it has happened at all temps. I go to start it and the engine cranks for a little but won't start. It fells like there isn't a spark going to the engine. After a dozen tries it finally starts and runs perfect. It does idle a little rough but once it gets to speed it fells like its brand new. I'm thinking Carb or ignition . Any ideas?

Check the Electronic Choke. Spray gum-out in it to loosen any debris. If the doesn't work disconnect the choke, and back it off. If this resolves the hard starting, then replace the choke. You will need it when starting the cold engine.

Do not forget to check the timing too plus the other suggestions above. No use repeating here.

Cheap fix first though. Try some gas additive first for a tankful or too.

If it's a v-8 it has a quadrajet and is probably suffering a little vapor lock. Replace car with a fuel injected one soon.

check the fuel system.hook up a fuel pump tester off the fuel rail and also it could be a dirty gas filter.when you leave it sit,the dirt will settle in the filter and when you crank it,the dirt gets washed and the gas starts to flow.good luck.
