this is my first baby. I am almost 39 weeks, and I just had a dr appt yesterday. although the doctor said there has not been a lot of change with my cervix, I have been experiencing some things that make me wonder if I am close to labor. I had an ultrasound yesterday to check things out since my cervix hasn't changed much, and the baby was very low head down in position. I have an induction set for next week, but I am beginning to wonder if I will make it until then. here is what I have been experiencing:
contractions(confirmed by doctor). they are still irregular but have been more frequent and painful today (also lower back hurts some with these now). I did not bleed from my pelvic exam yesterday, however, early this morning, there was some discharge that was tinted pink and brownish. right now, I am hurting all over my body.. body aches to the point i want to take some tylenol.

what do you experienced ladies think? I don't feel good at all right now.

thanks

I forgot to also mention that I have bowel movements have been very difficult for the past two months, and now they are not. Just another change I've observed.

You sound like labor. The pains need to crawl all the way up your bell. and could be having back labor. pink could be (show). Time the pains . Take a bath not shower. I have 6 kids Twins and 1 home birth . I M me. IF need or more infor. It could go fast . Where is the dad at?

It sounds like you could be going into labor, but I know from experience that no 2 women are the same and experiencing some signs of labor can mean you are or you're not.
First time pregnancies tend to be on time or later, but not all.
With my first pregnancy, I lost part of my plug early in the morning on the 18th and I delivered by c-section at 4:36 pm on the 19th.
With my second, I had a sore back, but then everything was sore!
I didn't experience contractions, but since I was pregnant with twins I was told to go to hospital. There I found out I was already 3 cms dilated! My babies were born less than 2 hours later!
Just keep on top of your symptoms, when contractions are 5 minutes apart or something else happens, head to the hospital.
Congratulations!

The dischange is probably your mucus plug. This doesnt mean that you are in labor, but you could be. If the contractions get close together like every 5 mins or your water breaks then you should worry but more then likly you are just having brackston hicks contractions.(contractions that dont mean labor) When i went into labor i felt, just not good the whole day before and that morning so you could be close! Call your doctor if you ae really concerned.

Difficult call to make but I would say - call your doctor. You sound very much like I did with my first baby. I didn't actually feel "contractions" but I didn't feel well. I called and made an appt for evening. When I got there the midwife jokingly said "you don't look like your in labor". 15 minutes later they were rushing me to the hospital. Good luck and God Bless.

the discharge could have been your mucus plug and with the pain you are experiencing you could be on labor,,if you are in that much pain you should go to the hospital and get checked, they say when you lose your plug it could be two hours, two days or longer, my experience is when i lost my plug it didnt take long and i was in labor. i have 5 children and each one is different and i did make trips to the hospital and a couple of times it was false labor but thats what they are there for, i would go get checked as far along as you are though

Measure the length of each contraction by timing when it begins and when it ends. True contractions last more than 30 seconds at first and get progressively longer — up to 75 seconds — and stronger. With false labor, contractions vary in length and intensity. I hope this helps you. I KNOW the feeling. 35 weeks on 3rd child BEST WISHES

If you have a discharge and your lower back hurts, call your OBand ask if he/she needs to see you. There is absolutely nothing wrong with calling them whenever you think you are in labor. Yes, lower back pain is a good sign that you are either in labor or on the way. The discharge makes me think that you need to call your OB. Good luck and take care of yourself and the new little one on the way!

Sounds like you may not make it to induction. Just because the cervix hasnt changed really doesnt mean anything. Good Luck and I hope all goes well for you :)

Well, I think everyone covered the bloody show and the pain...my thoughts are on the bm's. Alot of women have very good bm's before they go into labor. It's a natural way to cleanse your body. My money is on you going soon...real soon. GL! Congrats on your little one!
