We watched this movie in school about 7 years ago and I know that all the student's in my class hated it and thought it was a drag and extremely boring. But I really enjoyed it because I love literature. Did anyone else out there like this movie?

A tremendously under-rated movie. It truly makes people think about their lives and the decisions we make which isn't popular with most people (esp. teenagers). It is also the type of movie that is best watched in a small group or alone (no peer pressure to appear "cool" in front of your friends) and it grows on you when you watch it again for the second and third time.

It is wonderful and certainly Robin Williams's best screen performance (allowed to ad-lib and be crazy, but tuned down, deliberate, and powerful).
It's not an "old" movie, considering that it was made in the 1980s, and movies have been around since the 1800s... "Old" movies, I'd have to say, are from the 60s and before (but I guess that's just because of my 20-something age) but it certainly will be labeled a classic.

I loved Dead Poet Society. I can see why school aged kids would not like it. This movie was about the exchange of thoughts and ideas. Really, how can most kids relate to a movie like this when most of their thoughts are about clothes or boyfriends/girlfriends. I think this would be just too deep for them.

If we are stereotyping right here, then a "female's action picture" is all approximately romance and paying for, and a "guy's action picture" is all approximately blowing issues up and gazing breasts. "lifeless Poet's Society" isn't the two. it incredibly is an thrilling, sensible action picture, and that i don't see any reason somebody does not savour a minimum of something approximately it. it incredibly is incredibly worth seeing to a minimum of be able to talk it with yet another individual. i decide to advise merely gazing video clips for the heck of it, regardless of no count if or not you think of you slot into the class of somebody who might like it. in case you are able to not stand it, turn it off. in case you a minimum of do not hate it, you are able to learn something or have a easy subject count of communication that would not contain the climate...

I absolutely loved Dead Poet's Society. We had to watch it in school as well, and I had already seen it, so I was telling my friends how good it ws, but nobody liked it. I think thats a serious problem with todays youth, unless it has the new "hottest star" or blood and guts, they don't like it. Glad someone else besides me enjoyed it!

It is a very good film. Enjoyed every minute of it.
The 'problem' with these types of films, or the reason they are not popular with a 'younger' age group, is that there are no explosions and killings. It's a film to make you think about what you do with your life. Never a popular subject amongst adolescents!
