More rights against search and seizure being stolen from children in public school. It began with searches of their person and lockers at random. It has become more intrusive - Now New Jersey public school will randomly test the bodily fluids of children for alcohol and or drugs. The court says children have no expectation of Privacy. This I believe is the begining of the end for Our Forefathers Constitution of the United States. When do violations of the 4th amendment end. Or are our children being indoctrinated into a new type of country one in which anyone can be search at any time for any reason.

The point I am trying to reach is - If our children become acustom to random search without cause - will it not be much more eaiser to adapt to when they become adults. Then you have a country under control of the Government and then what rights will be taken.

I see your point - what better generation to brainwash then our youth. Begin in the schools reinforcing that they really have no right to be free from search and seizure but for probable cause.
By showing these children they have no rights will they not pass this ideology on as the grow older. The children should be protected but not at the cost to loss of rights granted under the constitution.

There are many schools of thought on this but here's my view:

Everyone has the right of free speech and expectancy of privacy BUT if it's for the improvement of safety the school should also have the right to search lockers etc..
If you had a kid in public school would you not want to know if his classmate had a gun in his locker?

Right to drink and consume alcohol? yes after legal age. So why should they test for presence. You can't drive a car under the influence (It's illegal and drunk students could get out of hand at school)
There's very little comfort for a parent knowing that his kid got the crap beat out of him but nothing could be done because the other student was drunk and didn't know what he was doing.

I'm all for the rights of individuals AS LONG AS IT DOESN'T INTERFERE WITH MY RIGHTS to be able to go to a safe school.

since when did the 4th amendment omit any one by age? I do believe a parent has the right to search a kids room even their person, but, only the parent, or is this another way to do away with the 4th amendment? we have so many scum bags who want to destroy our country and its constitution etc, it is hard for me to comprehend why some one would want to destroy this country and for what it is, if they have a better plan why the hell don't they lay it out and let us see it?f we think it is better I am sure we would adopt it , but, until some one comes up with something better, why not just leave it like it is?
remember, what Ben Franklin said ? (any one who will bive up a freedom for security deserves neither) I gree.

That is very interesting. Could you please post a link so I can read more. If it is a private school then let them continue to run it as they are. I f it is a public school they may be crossing boundaries they shouldn't and I would like to see their reasoning.
