I think it has something to do with where you live .. I'm from south london / surrey borders and I think its hokey cokey.

OMG you mean i've been dancing and singing the wrong words all my life??? Oh the shame!!!!!!
I always thought it was Hokey Cokey, although Hokey Pokey does seem to make sense as well.
Am sat here now trying to sing the song.......nope i'm sure it's Hokey Cokey, sorry!!!!

It's the Hokey Cokey in the UK

In the US it's the Hokey Pokey

Hokey Pokey unless you are snorting lines in the bathroom...then I guess it would be the Hokey Cokey.

I live in london and i swear the song says Hokey Cokey!! i'm sticking with you mate!!

It must be a brit thing... because apprntly we're the only ones that get that drunk at do it at the weddings!!

The dance in question is "The Hokey Pokey". I've never heard of the other name. Then again, you do live in England, so it's highly possible the name underwent a linguistic change going from the U.K. over to the U.S.A..

African-Americans don't intentionally do stupid dances, anywhere. It's only stupid when someone has no sense of rhythm. It's all about "the cool".

BTW, on this side of the pond it's the Hokey Pokey.
