I have disconnected the battery and have the truck up on ramps with the rear wheels blocked. I removed the 2 bolts holding the starter in and the brace that is next to the starter. There is not enough room to get the starter out. I am obviously missing something but don't know what it is! The frame is below and the exhaust is above, and I cannot even get to the wiring to disconnect them from the starter without removing it.

I hate to tell you this because it sucks but to remove the starter from a 93 s10 with a 4.3 you have to unbolt the engine mounts and jack the engine up abit to make enough clearance for the starter to come out. it's the 2nd thing after disconnecting the battery in the 93 Chevy S10 repair manual. just make sure when you jack up the engine you don't put the jack directly on the oil pan.

I have a 92 S10 and I will need to take a look tomorrow. IM if you have not fixed your problem by then. Anyway, sometimes you have may have to put your hand above and remove the nut on the cellanoid. Tight fit and then it should be a matter of jiggling it out of there. I forgot when I did mine. I know you usually have to disconnect the cellonoid first before you can even attempt to try to take it off.
