Sir, I bear a rhyme excelling
In mystic runes and magic spelling
Celestial singers elucidate
All my vain striving can't relate.
The above is the mnemonic I learnt at school for memorising the first 20 decimal places. Pi is irrational and can never be exactly expressed. 3.14 is all you need most of the time, or 22/7 is close enough but NOT a correct answer (correct to 2dp, but not 3)

Pi can be written as an infinite power series, so it just goes on forever. It is known as an irrational number, in other words no-one can give an exact value for Pi, only approximations.
Hope this helps.

Last heard PI had been calculated to 66000 decimal places, that's probably been beaten with somebody with more supercomputer time than sense. Normal people are happy with 3 or 4 decimal places. If you want a snappy phrase to remember it to several more decimal places (for you local pub quiz, impressing your friends) then memorise "can I have a large container of coffee please", which if you count the letters is PI to 8 decimal places i.e. 3.14159265

If you go here, down at the bottom of the page are links to sites with the first million or two million or 200 million decimal points for the value of pi...

Pi is an irrational number with an infinite number of figures.
I know that someone has calculated several millions of those figures but there is an INFINITE number of figures

I assume you are referring to Pi (not pie).
Pi is the ratio of any perfect circle's area to it's diameter.
Pi is approximately equal to 3.14159 but it can be calculated out to thousands of digits to the right of the decimal point.

It really depends on whether it's apple, cherry, banana cream, pumpkin, mince or strawberry rhuharb pie. It's impossible to answer without further information. Perhaps you should eat some pie.

By the way, it isn't 22/7 ...
it's an irrational number; It can't be defined by fractions either!
