I just had my 1995 saturn checked out at an aamco shop. the guy said that my car is reading codes 68 @ 95, which means theres too much pressure in the valves(high line ckt circuit line pressure) comming in and out. does that mean I need a new transmission or can I just have the valve fixed ?how much to just fix valve? If I buy a used transmission from a pick a part, how much would it cost in labor to put in new one? thanks everyone...

Aamco will tell you you need a new transmission if you go in for a taillight bulb. If the transmission is working ok, get a flush. High pressure might be nothing more than 12 year old fluid turned into gunk. And ask a dealer to check the codes.

RUN AWAY! That IS NOT valid OBD-1 transaxle OR diagnostic error codes for a 95 or older Saturn that anyone other than Saturn would be able to pull!

The first link is a TRANSAXLE error code chart for a 95 or older saturn; the second link is a DIAGNOSTIC trouble code chart for a 95 or older saturn.

What is the car doing? You could try www.saturnfans.com for better answers.

Code 65 is a proprietary Saturn code that Aamco would NOT be able to retrieve, and I've been working on Saturns for a LONG time which is the only reason I know of it.

Information Flag 65
Battery Voltage out of range high or low
Information Flag Parameters:
Engine running and battery voltage below 9.5 volts or above 17.0 for 1.5 seconds.
Test Description:
Correct battery voltage at PCM or appropriate charging system problem.

If your transmission is slamming, it's because the transmission is not getting enough juice from the charging system for smooth shifts.

I would get a new car, aamco always says u need it rebuilt or a new one, which cost 3000$ and plus they say it can be more once they get inside it. If they know the codes they can give u an estimate.......anything with transmissions is alot of money

Get two or three more estimates and cost to repair. To replace trans. is expensive so depends how many miles on car or if you tow something on a regular basis. Compare cost to repair vs cost to replace and consider how much longer you plan to keep car. then make you decision.

that's no longer from warped brake rotors. If the only time you purchased the vibration is whilst struggling with then it may be brakes. If shaky for the period of the acceleration of the motor vehicle - it must be a motor mount, undesirable axle, undesirable bearing, or structural situation. straight forward that the strut tower might have rusted out. the wonderful way is to bypass to somebody it quite is ASE qualified to seem at this motor vehicle. wish this helps.

well, why fix what isnt broke! back in the 70s we bought "shift kits" that upped the fluid pressure & was actually healthy for the bands. good luck finding a shop that dont wanna hose you.

Get a second opinion. Either way, it is going to cost you serious money. A second opinion is cheap.
