I mean which country do you think would surpass the U.S. and what should the U.S. do to maintain its current status as the #1 super power.

China, because it is powerful and ancient society that will more than likely want to ascend as the most powerful Empire on earth.

Maybe not the answer you are looking for, but the next super-power could well be the United States. Just a different United States, with a new government, a new hope, and new role in the world. With the right voices, the right motives, and persistance, this is distinct possibility!

I know the Euopean Union is not a Country but if it was - then that would be the next super power. Otherwise, I think China because they are so dedicated to an ideal presented to them by their Government and they will work until they fall dead.

I think China is already a world superpower, they got all kinds of missiles and technology.
I would say India might be the next superpower.

China. We gave them all our technology. they weren't considered that great a threat when they were long on manpower and short on technology in the 1990s. They have since developed the ability to blast satellites out of orbit thanks to John Wong, Ron Brown, Clinton, and Gore.
