I had unbearable heartburn throughout all of my pregnancies from about 8 weeks until I had the baby! There are some medications you can take that are prescriptions and are safe for baby. Ask your OB/gyn about it.
In the meantime chew Tums, but they do cause rebound indigestion- the stomach acid is reduced for a while but comes back in greater supply.

Tums chewables is what my doc recommended.
**I have found that chewing strong-flavored peppermint gum, or slowly sucking on candy canes leftover from Christmas, helps me a lot when I get heartburn. Sometimes I don't have to take a Tums when I use these instead. The candy and gum stimulate your saliva glands, and the saliva neutralizes some of the acid. Try it -- it really helps! **
That is very early to be getting heartburn. I just started getting it now (just starting my 7 th month).
If you have heartburn a lot avoid citrus fruit, orange juice, tomatoes, tomato sauce, pizza, onions, garlic, very spicy food, vinegar, lemon juice, and any fatty, greasy or fried foods. Also avoid soda, tea, cola, and coffee (not good for baby anyway).
Don't drink water or any other fluids with your meal, because this can make your heartburn worse by diluting your digestive juices. Drink water at other times (2 hours after eating).
good luck.

Whatever you do..... DO NOT EAT PIZZA!!!! That was the only food that gave me heartburn and it made me throw up, but I would get little bouts of heartburn and Tums and Rolaids never worked. Try eating some Tums after you eat. I feel sorry for you if you are only 9 weeks and already being hit this hard with heartburn. The only thing I can tell you is Tums and water. It gets better eventually!

I dont know what to tell you to make. I get heartburn from absolutley everything, even after drinking water. I am 32 weeks with my 4th and got it early too. I got it all the time with all my kids. My doctor prescribed me Pepcid and I feel great now when I take that. So much better than suffering with terrible heartburn. OR you can take Tums, Mylanta or Maalox. Those do help too, and are ok to take. With my other pregnancies I had to stock up on Mylanta!

i am 38 1/2 weeks pregnant and i didnt start getting heartburn until about a week ago.... i havent found anything that wont give me heartburn, the only thing that helps some is ice cream but it only helps while im eating it, about 5 mins after i stop i get it back. i try tums but i just gobble through them... my sister told me milk helped her SO much... i havent tryed it yet... will prolly later today... good luck and i hope that you can get it undercontrol.
im thinking i didnt get heartburn at 9 weeks was because my morning sickness was so bad everything i ate came up anyways.

You know.. I am 23 weeks and everything still gives me heartburn. The best suggestion I can say is not to eat anything spicy or acidic, don't lay down after eating, eat small meals (6 small meals a day instead of 3 large) and drink plenty of water.

I agree with everyone else there is nothing you can do besides buy stock in antacids. I would get it when I would drink bottled water but not tap water. I also could eat the spiciest foods and they wouldnt bother me but a pretzel would, so it all depends on you and the good news is it doesnt last forever. Also try not to lay down right after eating or try to sleep with your head propped up so that you are not flat.

everything i eat gives me heartburn. i ate plain dry cereal the other day and it gave me heartburn. the only thing that really saved me during my first pregnancy were Maalox anti-acid barrier tables. it stops the heartburn and keeps it from coming back. i can't find them anywhere in town during this pregnancy, so i'm stuck. but you really should try them.

1ST Of all try tums there safe to take while you are pregnant and try eating some ice. It really has nothing to do with what you are eating had it my while pregnancy and my daughter when she was born had LOTS AND LOTS OF hair. Homemade Potato soup sounds good to me on a cold and snow day.Good luck Dear.
