I like your "please explain", reminds me of the school years. It sounds nice too. Here is one explanation, sorry for the length but I couldn't shorten it.
All of us had to die before being born into this physical world. So we all, without exception, come from another world totally different from the physical world in which we live now and we had to die to that world in order to be born to this one. That other world was the womb world of our mother.
This is an irrefutable truth independent of our personal beliefs.
We had to die to the "womb world" in order to be born into the physical world.
Death is a relative word that means change. We go from one dimension of existence into a higher form of existence. Or in a symbolic language from one world to a higher world. At each transition we have to change, or die, in the ordinary language.
People who cease to have a physical existence continue to live but in a higher dimension, unknown to us for a very good reason.
That good reason can be the subject of a whole new question.
This may sound too complex or esoteric but it is simple and an example will clarify it.
When we were in the womb of our mother we were in another world. We were living in a physiological world. It was completely different from this physical world.
When we abandoned the womb world (died to the womb world) and were born into the physical world, we didn't "go" to any other place. We stayed in the same place. We came into a new and higher dimension of existence, the physical world.
Similarly when we abandon the physical world we continue our existence in a more evolved or higher dimension that is not physical but spiritual.
So the next world is not a "place" where we will be going to. It is here. But in another dimension unknown to us, just as the physical world was unknown to the fetus.
Death does not exist even in the physical sense because all the atoms of our body continue to exist in some other form.
Now the purpose of the physiological world -the womb world- was to develop eyes, ears, lungs, feet, hands and brains that were of no use in that environment. Their necessity became apparent in the following world, this physical world.
The purpose of the physical world in which we live now, is to develop moral virtues and to put them to the service of mankind. The usefulness of the effort of polishing our character and acquiring moral virtues will become apparent in the other dimensions of life which are not material but spiritual.
Progress continues in all the worlds and is not limited to this physical world.
To conclude death has been wrongly interpreted during the infancy of humanity as non existence. There are many things in our modern world that we can not see or touch but in which we believe. Gravity, waves, etc.. are classical examples

Of course Im in favour of it! I hope there's something after death.. I might get very bored if my existance was snuffed out, but then again I might not be able to experience this sensation. if I came back and told you, would you know who I am or believe me?
wiether I agree to the truthfulness, well Im not dead yet hon so I cant really say. Perhaps there's rules in place and I wouldnt be able to tell you about it unless you were ok with some people calling you crazy.
Update: if you meant life for yourself, after someone else died that was important to you..please mail me and Ill change my answer.

Before favouring to anything let me explain, what life is...Life is just contained energy...this energy powers different part of our body and every organ ultimately help one another. So when we die we are actually releasing that energy..probably into high energy atoms or something..(ask some science geek he will tell you what) and is released into atmosphere(again probably).Nobody has come with any answers so let it be your next question.
Well about life after death...is a choice probably...or probably its humans way of seeing things positively...or maybe its the most unknown thing thats happening to every human sometime in their life but there is no answer with any proof to satisfy anyone.
Since this question is in the philosophy section lets keep beleiving in life after death so that it keeps us going till some scientist prove us otherwise.

Hi...i m certainly in favour of the statement "There's life after death".
As per me, this statement can be conceptualised in two different forms but both of them hold true.
In a generalised form wherein life applies to the continuity of life as a whole and not on individual basis, life continues to move on at its own pace, irrespective of the roadblocks (or deaths) it encounters in its path. The entire system or process keeps on ticking with event like life and death becoming a part of it, with no effect on the flow watsoever.
On an individual basis, life still exits after death though in a form which might not be too apparent. Life continues in our memories, in our senses, in our mind, in our soul and in our heart, though we might have lost the individual, his life energy still keeps on flowing almong us.
Life is an endless river and it will continue to flow .... it can be meandering at times but the flow is constant and will continue forever.

i think that something does happen to us after we die, but not necessarily another life. i dont think that once we do die then that is the end of our existence or whatever. we have to go somewhere, do something. in a way i am in favour of that statement, but in other ways im not, because how could there be another life? would it be on a separate plane or at the other end of the universe or something? no one will ever know! x x

"There's life after death" There is a GREAT life after death, a fiercy glowing ever upgraded life, a life above and beyond the nearby boundaries and horizons of your own worldly soul.
"There's life after death" if you're a Christian, a life in yonder Paradise for those who have done well thru this heavy earthly preparation, and a life in the fire of Jehenna, or burning in Hell if you please, if they didn't do their homework as good as they were expected to do.
There is an ever dreamy joyful life beyond the nearby hills of your soul's abode out there in yonder Mystery where all are gracefully inundated by the glowing glory of God's nearness, no matter how well they succeeded in their hard preparation here in this present life here in this oftenmost shadowy valley of tears.

It doesn't matter whether I am in "favour" of it or not. It doesn't change the fact that when this mortal body dies, there is a spirit and soul that continues to live. And there will be a day when body, soul and spirit are reunited as one. As Yoda said - "luminous beings are we, not this crude matter..."

If you believe in God, then you are in most likely in favour of this statement.
As I believe in God, I am therefore in favour of this.
Ultimately the kind of life that you will live after your death will depend on God Himself.

Life is lived here on earth plain and simple. Whether there is something after or not we have to live like there isn't a tomorrow or an afterlife. When we die, we die, that is why it is called death

Well it's not so much of being in favor of it or not. It's whether you believe it or not. In one sense, life here continues after the people we love die. Just as it has since the beginning. In the sense of, is there a heaven or hell or whatever it depends solely on what you believe.
