I read a article someplace on the web that attests to the fact that photogrphs do not usually do us justice, and that we actually look better in person. This had to do with camera distortion and flash distortion being the culprits, even with a lot of digital cameras. A careful use of the flash helps a great deal for starters.
Can anyone find this articel I mentioned that came out in the last year and post a link? I can't seem to locate it

Yes!!! I think it's cause we have an image of ourselves implanted in our mind and the pictures tell the truth. I like how I look in the mirror and I picture myself with the same figure/look that I had for the first 30 years of my life, so now that I'm heavier, I'm in denial about what I see in the pics!! I hate looking at pictures. My question is...how come I'm still happy with what I see in the mirror, but not the pictures??

I feel I look better in person...I think because when you take a picture the camera picks up so much detail that you see all your flaws when looking at the photo, like a pimple that is just under the skin and barely noticeable seems to stand right out in a photo

I think there’s a psychology in this. In the mirror we perceive ourselves in a very matter of fact way, we are comfortable with this image of us.
A picture of yourself is the image that your subconscious recognizes as being what others see you as. This is the reason we feel we look different. It is almost like an out of body experience you know its you but you are now looking in on it.
Many people in primitive societies have the view that when they are looking at a picture they are seeing their souls. That is an interesting perception and it shows how the mind quantifies the qualities that many view as superficial as being much more relevant to our being as a whole.

I learned a few years ago that I look completely different in my photos than I do in person. I had gotten arrested and missed my court date so there was an arrest warrant issued. The police came to my home at two in the morning to pick me up they had the warrant with a photo they took 45 days earlier; there were seven cops in my house searching for me and I was standing right in front of them. They even asked if I knew where he was of course I told them that he moved. What made it so funny is one of them would look at the picture and look at me and then pass it on to the next one and he would do the same everyone of them thought I was two different people with some similar characteristics I looked different enough that they didn't take the chance of taking me in for fear of wrongful arrest law suits.

I sometimes feel like I look different in pictures! I think I am prettier in pictures sometimes, but most of the time I can't stand to see a pic of myself! I'm not sure what causes this impression, but just know that you are absolutely stunning! If you don't love yourself, then no one will. Love yourself! It will make it easier to enjoy your life.

The way you look at yourself in the mirror is not how other people see your face. You see your face as a reversed image when you look in a mirror which can make a difference. There is actually a mirror that shows you an unreveresed image.

I hate looking at myself in pictures. I think it's because you can't change anything. Like if you look in a mirror at yourself, there are simultaneous things occurring in your brain, like facial feature wise. A picture freezes you up, so you look how you did at that exact moment. I also can't stand hearing my voice recorded on voicemails and such. I don't think it sounds anything like me. Weird
