Michael Jackson is, as I like to call him, the adverse effect of a lifetime of celebrity. While many celebrities can go into hiding or just die from overdosing on that which keeps them relatively sane or "normal," Michael Jackson has a number of things weighing on his persona. First, his abusive father has always put pressure on his family's success - particularly Michael since his Jackson 5 days. This has led to Michael's inability to cope with adulthood and thusly been shown as a child-loving freak. Second, as a child superstar and growing up as one, there is a large amount of pressure to keep up appearances and think of this celebrity lifestyle as "normal." While doing so, adding with the paternal pressure, you get a man who's fame is constantly over-shadowed by a fake sense of reality, thus leading his personal life to be, in actuality, the public's business. Lastly, to answer your question, Michael Jackson has been an international icon to many generations and many countries. While we publicly humiliate him in America, he is still adorned by those who grew up listening to him as well as those we consider "foreign" because of his singing career, not because of allegations and scandal. Michael Jackson is this phenomenon that attracts a lot of attention and will always attract attention because Michael Jackson was raised on attention. While you or I may not agree with his lifestyle, there are many people that do not see the awkward choices of Michael Jackson and appreciate him for what he's always been famous for - his role as a musical artist.

Oh yeah people still love michael jackson. He's a legend, that's like asking if people really like bob marley or elvis!! lol. No matter how derranged he may seem mentally in this day and age, his musical accomplishments trump all that. He laid the foundation for alot of r&b today. As for the mobb of people, hell no he don't gotta pay em!! Those are real die hard fans that would prolly end up trampling him to death trying to get a piece of him if they got a chance. Imagine how you'll feel about your favorite childhood artist in 30 years. You know ppl relive memories thru music.

i like him~ he is the greatest entertainer ever! i luv his songs! my fave is billy jean <3
hes still the legend who gave us thriller in the 80's. its pathetic how people judge him more on the things said in the media than on the good things hes done like donating hundreds of millions of dollars to charity.
and FYI cinamon girl. Justin Timberlake is just a cheap, talentless loser who sings in a falsetto copied everything that michael did. his dance moves are pretty much identical to michaels and he sings high like michael too. in my eyes hes just a rip-off. if i wanted to listen to pop songs like the **** ones that justin produced then id just listen to michael jackson cos he IS the king of pop.

I like him a lot. The people that don't like him just don't really know that much about him. The more I know about him, the more I like him. He's not a pedophile. And he's a good musician, though he hasn't done much since the mid 90s.

I may be alone but I still like him. I grew up listening to him and still to this day find him talented - regardless of his strange fascination with young boys.
There will never be another video as entertaining as Thriller!!

Definitely not. If I ever met him, I doubt we would have anything in common (he's a wierdo and I am not) and I would definitely have trouble if we were ever face-to-face (without cringing, laughing or screaming).
