Insurance rates increased 77%?

I live on a costal Island on the Costal South Carolina. My homeowners (condo) insurance just went up from $487/year to $1200+. in addition to this I pay over $3,000 on regieme insurance (tat covers anything on the outside and the building structure itself.) All blamed first a few years ago on 911 and now on Katrina, anyone else having this problem and how did you deal with it.

Not just Katrina....it's the cumulative effect of many recent hits and near misses. Also, weather forecasters are predicting we are coming into a hurricane cycle that we haven't seen in 50+ years.
