I have a wireless b/g internet card (internal) in my laptop but am having trouble picking up wireless networks around my new apartment. Is there a way to boost the range of my laptop so I can find and connect to them?

Hmmm ... if I read your question correctly it sounds like you're poaching off of someone else's network(s).

I don't think there is anything you can do on your end except make sure you're not causing any interference. Microwave ovens, cordless phones, and other devices on the 2.4ghz band will interfere with WiFi

you have a couple of options: you can buy a network card with more range, or you can buy signal extenders that you can place in your house to boost the signal. Make sure your router's wireless signal is also capable of traveling as far.
