If you have a larger chest, try wearing a wrap shirt, or a shirt that has rouching on the sides of the garment. Don't be afraid to wear colors and patterns. Just make sure the patterns are small and the colors aren't primary (like little kids wear). If you wear button down shirts, vertical stripes will lengthen your torso. Try wearing straight legged jeans (medium-dark wash) and straight legged trousers. This way nothing will cling to you, and will balance everything out (plus it's in style). Try not to wear black as much as you do color. Color shows off your personality!

wear shirts that have a band or strip going around your waist and floats off the rest of your body..it really makes a person look tiny plus there extremely comfortable!! also make sure your pants are not too tight because this will cause you to muffin --> make you look squeezed on the bottom and bludge right over the top of your pants like a muffin in the wrapper! this is not nice to see on anybody and unfortunately there are so many people doin it these days.

Watch were the bottom of your shirts hit. A shirt that is too close to your tummy will make it look thicker. Also try printed tops and solid darker pants to elongate the look of your body. You'll look thinner and taller all at once!
Make sure your bras are supporting your girls well!! It makes a big difference in your overall appaerance!

I have the same problem lately, I live in long sweatshirs and tee shirts.. When I wear jeans I wear larger shirts that can stay out of my pants. I am now into the "baby doll shirt" look, but alot of them look like lingerire and they dont cover my top....I guess avoid materials like spandex, danskin or any thing that clings. and black is also thinning.....

Wrap-around dresses and shirts are ideal. Also anything with any rouching around the middle will slenderize. Vertical striped shirts will mask it also. You could always get a good slenderizing body suit or panty girdle.

Just get things that don't cling to your stomach.
Empire-waist dresses, and shirts that are neither tight nor baggy are your best bet. Baggy isn't necessarily best. Find your BEST assets and EMPHASIZE.
For example, I have a gut but I also have DD boobs so I make sure my shirts don't cling to my stomach, but rather my chest. Tailored, button-ups or jackets/blazers can be quite flattering.
But really, there are a lot of nice shirts that just skirt or flow right over the stomach, target in on those and don't stress about "fashion" or weight loss. Just make sure you are comfortable and healthy.
Here are an examples of tops that would not cling to the stomach.

Plus, a good corset can be a real help.

I think that you shouldn't be trying to hide your figure. If you are concerned with finding something that flatters your figure, you should check out Lane Bryant or Ashley Stewart. Both of these stores cater to plus-sized women.
