I have been off of birth control for 1 month. but I have not gotten my period yet. I took a pregnacy test and it was negative. should I go to my GYN and take a blood test or wait to see what happens? How long should you wait to take a pregnancy test if you think you are pregnant?

It depends on each individual pregnancy. With my first two children, I took a pg test 2-3 days before my period was due and they were positive. I'm pregnant right now. With this pregnancy, the pg test was negative for the first week after my period was due. My period was 7 days late before the home pregnancy test showed positive. Good luck! :)

It depends on what kind of birth control you were on b/c if you were on the pill then it should have started but other birth controls have different effects after stopping them. I had my last depo shot in March of last year and the only reason I have had 2 periods is b/c of the medicine my GYN has prescribed to make me start. I would wait a liitle longer and see what happens.

Good Luck!

Should wait until you missed your period by a day. If you were on the pill a long time and have been off it for a month then you probibly just screwed up your system and have to wait for it to settle again. Still take the test tho.

if you are over due for your period then you can take a test now and it should show for you although sometimes when we get off any birth control it WILL mess with our bodies. If you do not have one before the month is up I would still check with your doctor.

well it could be your body reacting to not having the birth control in your system...but i would recommend that you double-check the pregnancy test and have your blood drawn just to be sure...you never know!!! I waited about a week and a half after my lmp and my test came out positive...so if you were i think it would have read that you were...but like i said...double-check to be sure!

It can take a few months for your period to start up again on its own. However, if you feel like you may be pregnant (intuition is often right), go see a gynecologist. It needs to be at least 5 weeks after conception, I believe.

After stopping birth control it may take a little while for your period to get straightened out again.
