I live in an apartment complex and i am pluged into my ethernet port, but my computer auto logs on to wireless connections nearby, I can disable it but it gets annoying doing it all the time. Does it hurt my downloading or surfing speed, thnx

it's not good because there would be an interference on these 2 connection // disable the network card, go to your device manager & disable the wireless card from there...these process will actually leave your wireless network connection disabled! "hope these will help ! "

Same.
Because your IE and other programs are set to use the Ethernet connection. Besides you cant use both connections at the same time.

Now when you only have the wireless connection the programs reset to use the wireless (they will allways use the Ethernet connection, when available coz it´s usually more stable than the wireless one).

its actually bad for your computer coz if the owner of the wireless network found out that your tapping to his connection, (though its not your intension.. ) if he's good enough he can pass a virus to your computer.. maybe what you can do is to disable the wireless adapter that you got so it wont search for wireless network within the range..
