I stopped taking the birth control pill at the start of October. I did not get my period in November. Took a hpt and was neg. I then did not get my period in December. Another hpt...and negative. No period yet in January. I started feeling the symptoms about a week before I tested positive. I am concerned because I am a social drinker and smoker. I have DEFINITELY stopped ALL of that now, but during the months that I tested negative I was doing this. I am not sure if I just got pregnant or if I could be two or three months along. Any advice? I am a nervous wreck. I have a obgyn app. on Feb 15. They would not give me one any sooner.

I am 24. This is my first pregnancy. I have been on the birth control pill since I was 15. I was a gymnast and was unable to get a period without it. I was not aware that I would get pregnant so quickly after stopping. I have had all the symptoms, achy breasts, cramping, sore back, but from what I hear I am one of the lucky ones.....no morning sickness!!

dont stress out, the stress itself is probably worse for you than your social activites were. besides, it wont "undo" anything. the doctor's office isnt real concerned to see you any earlier, because there really isnt much for them to do, other than confirm you're pregnant. i went through the same thing, i didnt know if i was 4 months pregnant, or 4 weeks, and it was my 5th baby! they didnt care. i was freaking out, of course. more likely than not, if you just did some social drinking, and you've stopped, the baby will be alright. same for the smoking, if you stopped, chances are greater that baby's just fine. just get your rest, relax, eat well, and take your vitamins. you can get pre-natals over the counter. good luck, hun!!

Wow....are you nauseated at all? Tired? I wouldn't worry about the partying in the first few months. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, but what's done is done. I also had been partying in the first few months of my pregnancy with my first child (I have four now!) and he didn't suffer any ill effects because of it.
The important thing now is to eat right and plenty of rest. 2/15 isn't that far away, although I know it feels like years away, and they'll be able to tell you by doing an exam (and possibly an in-office ultrasound) how far along you are.
Go ahead and be excited! A new baby is always a good thing! And just think, if you are 3 months, you only have two months to go before they can tell you the gender! I never could wait myself.
Good luck and many blessings!

Actually a similar thing happened to me; I didn't know I was pregnant until I was in my second month- I'm not a smoker but I sure did drink during that month I didn't know, and a lot. My doctor told me that it was very common for people in the 1st months that are unaware of their pregnancy, to drink and to continue doing other things like smoking since you didn't know but as long as you stop today, you should be okay.

I'm sure youre just fine. you probably just got pregnant. i know waiting for that appt is very hard. Mine is finally on 2/5 but i scheduled it weeks ago and it seems like years! just try to relax (that's hard too i know) but think of it this way..you cant change anything that you've done and you are aware now, so just start taking vitamins and stop the smoking and alcohol. Theres a lot of women who dont know theyre pregnant right away and everything turns out fine. Congratulations to you :)

I was a social drinker and smoker before I found out I was pregnant. In fact I drank the night before I found out. I stopped doing those things once I found out and my son turned out just fine.
Congratulations
