I have just started running once a week, around a football pitch.
What i want to know is : is it normal to have a tightness feeling in my chest??
I am not unfit, so i was wondering whether this was 'normal', and will it settle down after i have ran for a few weeks?

You might be pushing yourself to hard. If you are running and you can keep a conversation going but your a little winded while talking then you are running at the right speed. Just because you think you are fit does not mean there can't be reasons why there might be problems with tightness in your chest. Have you had a physical lately? Its probably normal. Just don't push yourself to hard at first. Make sure you are warming up first. If you don't it can cause other problems. Such as muscle pulls ect. Warm up for about 15 minutes before you exercise and work up to were you want to be. Don't try to push yourself all at once. Happy running.

it is your heart asking you in desperation to stop. i would say that it is normal for a normal person..unless you are lance armstrong or micheal jordan. but us average folk seem to have that problem since we dont always exercise...if you just started the routine of this then you are definitly going to feel tightness. Hopefully your body adapts...if it doesnt? then go see a doctor because you might have a heart condition.

Maybe its coz ur running suddenly..and over doing it...(coz u said u said ur not fit)
do it slowly...and when u feel u r all fit...then keep on increasing no. of rounds etc..
