Media Day is a must because it promotes their league and the sport. It is an understanding between the league, the networks and the print media, so that people will be informed of the league and they will watch their network and buy their newspapers. And also Media Day is part of the league so all concerned must attend. Fines, in thousand of dollars, are imposed to those who snubbed it.

but the fine is not the bad part, the press will stay away from guys that dont talk at media day, and that can cost them endorsement money, which is much much more.
