with one of my mates I didn't do any warm ups as we both decided to do it on the spare of the moment. I was wearing trainers and was fine whilst walking for that period of time as I go to the gym often but must admit warm up properly.

Since yesterday morning I have very sore calves, ankles and thighs and feel very weak and tired with flu like symptoms. I have used deep heat to ease the pain but it doesn't really help. I have booked a doctors appointment for friday.

Apart from resting what can I do to help ease the pain and weakness and how long will it take for pain to heal?

Try stretching your sore muscles then massage and apply some heat. Take a nap when you get tired and you'll feel somewhat better. There might still be some pain the next day but it'll be a lot more bearable. As long as you don't overuse your sore muscles, the pain should heal after two days.

All I can suggest is you get a prescription for tylenol 3 from your doctor and take it accordingly. I also suggest next time you take the time to stretch before you go jogging in the future whether or not it was in the spur of the moment. Now you know why this is important.

Welcome to the world of worn out!

The gym is no substitute for prolonged activity such as a long walk, which really does exercise your muscles.

Your body just wasn't prepared for this amount of exercise.

Bin the doctors appointment. Keep warm and do some gentle walking and stretching exercises.

Recovery can take days - its nothing unusual

I'm on the swim team and when I first started I used to get this symptons. It's just because you have never done that before so your muscles are not used to it. Also, it means that you worked hard so it might have been just an after feeling. Maybe alittle sorness.
