Look in the filler neck where you pump the gas in. If it doesn't have the restricter in it...then most likely it was made to burn regular (leaded) gas.

Leaded fuel plugs converters...so they didn't install converters in leaded fuel burning vehicles. Chrysler offered K-cars up to 1985 that burned regular gas.

Take your VIN # to your Chevrolet dealer. At the parts counter they can run a trace on your truck. It'll tell exactly the day and hour it was produced plus options, engine codes, trans. codes and what emission system of any came on the truck. Fold the paper and stuff in your glove box. Nowadays, most states run a coupler to your on board computer and the state is advised the same info. that you got at the Chevy dealership. If it ever had a converter it must be in place. In NYS. during inspections our vehicle is not probed for emissions if its older than 1998.

Well it doesent mater. the older it gets the less thy worry about emissions. If it passed last time without a cat, most likly it will pass this time.
Sooner or later you wont have to get it tested at all.

An other place to check is under the hood on the decals. If it came with a cat, it would show up there.
