I prefer alternative & rock but genre doesn't matter; it all depends on the lyrics. It's the most important part of the song, so nothing about death or anything relating to it.

We can make the morning by Elvis.

I just thought I heard a small voice crying
Looked again and saw that it was me
I feel like a little boy denying
That he fears the night 'cause he can't see

Then a larger thought said stop your crying
Don't be scared to search 'cause you may find
Fate holds out a candle for your footsteps
Time rolls back the shadows of your mind

It's a long, long lonely night
You can make the morning if you try
It's a long, long lonely night
Oh, we can make the morning you and I
together, together, together

Lonliness is darkness' first companion
Spend the night alone and faith may bend
Share it all and see how fear starts fading
Chase away the shadows with a friend.

I'm going to say "Better Today" or "Yourself", both are by Faktion.

http://www.myspace.com/faktiondallas

Faktion has absolutely KA music. I love their music, and I try to promote them haha. They were signed to Roadrunner (that ended a month or 2 ago), and they didn't get promoted at all. They deserve so much more.

I want to give you reasons both for promoting the band and for those songs.

As far as the band goes, they are absolutely amazing people. They care about their fans more than nearly any other band out there today. They will personally respond to any message you send them and everything. The music is amazing. It's really touched me and my life. Their live show is the best. I want them to get the recognition they deserve.

The songs I picked:
#1. Better Today- the whole song is about putting negativity behind you. "Had no reason to feel down, for I have found that my negativity starts inside of me". How true is that?

#2. Yourself. It's all about doing things for yourself, because tomorrow is never promised.

Lyrics are at http://www.faktionband.com/lyrics/
Check them out, they mean a lot to me.

Check out Faktion, I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

Who I Am Hates Who I've Been by Relient K...
It's about changing from someone you don't like, to becoming someone you're proud of. (I know, the title is a bit self-explainatory).

Also, "I Just Came Back From A War" by Darryl Worley; Another song about Iraq, but the lyrics are powerful. One of those instant hit songs. In one verse, Worley addresses how "I'm fighting for them, but they no longer believe in what I'm doing..." Great statement on how ridiculous Americans have gotten with this "end the war" ****. They choose to be there to try and make a difference. We should support them AND their cause, not just the soilders.

Probably not your type of music (but maybe it is):

I Hope You Dance by Lee Ann Womack
From a Distance by Bette Midler
Thinking Over by Dana Glover
Youth of a Nation by P.O.D.
I Want to Grow Old With You by Westlife

At least, all these are meaningful to me.

Pearl Jam Black : I know someday you'll have a beautiful life,
I know you'll be the star in somebody else's sky,
but why, why, why can't it be,
oh, can't it be mine? / Seether The Gift
