If you do not chart or monitor your fertility in any way, and you think you may have conceived, you should wait 19 days (or longer) after having sex to test. Why 19?! Sperm can live approximately 5 days in the proper environment; if the sperm managed to live until you popped an egg, the actual conception could have taken place several days after the sex act that got the sperm there. To make sure you're not testing too early, assume the sperm had very long lives (5 days is considered a very long sperm life) and that conception occurred then. Then allow 14 days for the embryo to implant and develop enough hCG to show up on a pregnancy test (96% of pregnant women will test positive by then.)

No, it's not to early to test. But, maybe you can make an appointment and have your doctor do a test for you. I did the same thing with my last child. I didn't have a period for two months, then I spotted for three days(a normal period for me). Two weeks later, I had a bit more heavier period. I thought I had a miscarriage. The next month, I woke up with morning sickness. I went to a doctor and he did a blood test. I was three months pregnant. Don't let ANYONE tell you you're not pregnant just because you're having a period. With my first son, I had a period for my whole nine months!!! I did not show and everyone said I couldn't be pregnant for that reason. Eventually, I found out I was pregnant...two weeks before I was due!!! And, that's only because I started experiencing backaches, discomfort and movement. Luckily, he was healthy, small, but healthy(considering I had no prenatal care, not believing I was pregnant). If you feel you should test, TEST. Whether you do it three times a month or a week. It's better to know for sure, then not know in time.

A pregnancy test measures how much of the pregnancy hormone is in your urine.
At the early stages, there might not be enough of the hormone.
If i were you, id head to the doctors who will take a blood test as that can detect the smallest amounts of the hormone, and let you know in a couple of days.
You didn't say if you had any other symtoms.
For example; extra discharge, morning sickness, stretching pains - like period pains, cravings, tired, losing memory, etc...
Good luck!!!
I have my fingers crossed for you.

It sounds like you would be wasting money testing this early as your most fertile period to concieve is the mid-time between your periods.
On saying this though i do sympathise, i suffered a stilbirth after getting pregnant very quickly and was desparate to conceive again, everytime i looked around there was heavily pregnant women, it hurt so much and i'd waited so long for my baby buy; who's 16 now by the way.
My advice to you would be to try and enjoy life with your parnter as much as you can, these things happen when you least expect them. Good luck sweetie, your time will come i'm sure!

Personally I would wait until the next day of your due period, as what you describe sounds very like a wierd period.
However, you can go ahead and test now, if you're presuming that the 'period' was implantation bleeding, as your hgc hormones will be high enough by now.

You wouldn't have had bleeding for 3 days as implantation bleeding. Implantation bleeding is very light spotting. If you feel that its too early for a preg test try an ovulation test - if it's positive and you know your not ovulating you may be pregnant.
Good luck.

I know how you feel its very fustrating at times. I would go and see your GP and tell him/her what has happened and they can do blood test and a pregnancy test there. You could always just do one yourself but with bleeding that is not normal to you i would go to the GP. Rather be safe and knows whats going on with your body.
Good luck and I hope you fall pregnant soon.

Yes. Because you are getting to excited about it. I think you may need to wait for a month before you take another one if you don't see your period. And I also think you may need to see a doctor because of how your period is going on and off if may be a chance your hormones are off balance.

i would go to the doctor for a blood test and a check up. It sounds like you had breakthrough bleeding from implantation, but it could have been just hormones.

Its not to early to test. Dont get your hopes up though as this could be down to a number of reasons for example stress, alcohol consumption... Good Luck!!!!
