I have a Wii. Last night, I tried to access the store for the Virtual Console; I had to update. The update (via wireless internet) took forever (i.e. hours). When I tried to access the store this morning, I couldn't. I had to reboot the Wii-- I tried again, and got general unresolved errors (sorry, no error number available to me right now). I then went back to the main screen, and I couldn't get the hand cursor to come up. I pointed my Wii remote at the screen, clicked buttons, and the number lights flashed (like it normally does when the Wiimote attempts to connect) but nothing. Just flashed. No cursor. I tried with my second Wiimote--same thing. I restarted. Nothing.
What happened? How can I get my wiimotes (and my wii) working again!?!?

Try unpluging the Wii from the wall outlet. Some Wiis have a bug that makes them think that they are over-synched with Wii-motes (I called Nintendo when mine just flashed and me and didn't respond). Leave the Wii unplugged for more than 30s to apparently reboot the system. After that, mine worked fine.

Have you tried to re-sync the remotes with the Wii, via the button under the battery cover on the remote, and the butotn on the Wii under the front SD card cover?

Unplugging for 30 seconds, fixed the problem. Thanks, Jeffrey B. You saved me from buying another one:)
