I had a son almost 4 months ago with a hard labour - 45 hours and 4.5 pushing. The tear was bad and is still sore in the area. Intercourse is painfull and it feels like I was stitched up too much...anyone else had this problem? Seems like nothing is right down there anymore. Doc says I have a permanant hemerhoid and I have a large flap of skin as well. Seems like the whole stitching went bad...any ideas?

i had a hard labor also and had to have an episiotomy. it was only second degree but when i got stitched up i dont think it was done right either. i am always very sore after sex and my son is over a year old. i also have a little flap of skin that sticks out now and i know it wasnt there before. i am not sure if there is anything that can be done, i am also wondering how long this will bother me, i havent been back to the Dr. since my 6 week checkup and then she said it all looked good but i doubt she would say she didnt do a good job stitching it up. i would think with over time it should get a little better. good luck

I was very lucky enough to have a gynocologist who didn't believe in allowing the mother to tear. He said we have enough pain with the stitches and all. I was given the apezeodomy before ever pushing. My OB/GYN said that any doctor who allows their patients to rip during labor or allow the mother to be in labor longer than 18 hours, should be brought up on malpractice charges. I am so sorry that you went through that and I pray for you to recover very soon. Perhaps you should consult a medical attorney. Your doctor may have done something wrong. The permanent hemeroid and the flap of skin doesn't sound normal at all. Please go to another OB/GYN and have them look at you. I don't believe your doctor did a just service by you. Thank you and good luck.

If you think that they did something wrong I would say go to a different dr and get another opinion. Four months seems like a long time and I would think they could do something about the hemerhiod and the skin flap. But definately go to another dr and talk to them about it, if yours did something wrong he may not want to admit it.
